Here we see how grated decking holds strong in rough waves on the Currituck Sound in North Carolina. This pier was destroyed by a tropical storm in 2018 and needed to be rebuilt so that it could withstand rough weather. This grated decking has 50% open surface area, allowing water and air to pass through the deck like it’s not even there.
